Inter Milan have completed the signing of midfielder Davide Frattesi from Sassuolo.
The club confirmed the 23-year-old Italian international’s arrival in an official announcement.
Inter have been chasing Frattesi for much of the summer transfer window so far.
The 23-year-old has always looked to be the Nerazzurri’s priority target in midfield, though signing him needed some work.
AC Milan reportedly considered joining the race to sign Frattesi after selling Sandro Tonali to Newcastle United.
However, Inter have spent the past few weeks in regular negotiations with Sassuolo to Sign Frattesi. In the past couple days they’ve wrapped up the deal, and now the 23-year-old will be an Inter player for next season.
It’s Official – Inter Milan Sign Davide Frattesi
A turning point in the negotiations between Inter and Sassuolo came after the Nerazzurri sold Marcelo Brozovic to Al-Nassr.
The Nerazzurri completed the Croat’s sale for a fee widely reported to be around €18-20 million.
This gave Inter the necessary funds to make a move for Frattesi. On Tuesday, the Nerazzurri reached a definitive agreement with Sassuolo.
Now, they’ve gotten the medicals and all the last formalities out of the way. Frattesi has signed his contract and will play for Champions League finalists Inter starting next season.
This is not the first time that Inter have been interested in Frattesi’s signature.
The Italian had also been on the Nerazzurri’s radar last summer transfer window as well.
However, Inter have evidently decided that now Frattesi is ready to take the next step. They will trust him to join an experienced midfield with players like Nicolo Barella, Hakan Calhanoglu, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Last season, Frattesi made 37 appearances in Serie A. He scored eight goals in the process.
The Italian international has also received six caps for the Azzurri. Frattesi scored his first goal for his country during the most recent international break.
