Inter Milan and Man United are aiming to finish up talks for goalkeeper Andre Onana by this Thursday.

This according to UK broadcaster Sky Sports, via FCInterNews, who report that the two clubs both want to have the deal over the line by the time the Nerazzurri squad convenes for the start of their preseason training.

As of yet, nothing is official – Onana is still an Inter player.

However, by all accounts the negotiations between the Nerazzurri and Premier League giants United are at a very advanced stage. Barring any major surprises, the Cameroonian will be a Red Devils player next season.

This puts all parties in a bit of an awkward position, however, considering the timing of negotiations.

Inter Milan & Man United Want To Conclude Andre Onana Talks By Thursday

Inter are just about the begin their preseason. On Thursday, July 13, the Nerazzurri squad will gather to begin training ahead of next season.

From Inter’s perspective, there would be little desire to have Onana involved in any part of preparations for next season if it is already virtually set in stone that he won’t be part of the picture when the campaign begins.

Inter will want to start sorting out the matter of replacing the 27-year-old immediately. Bayern Munich’s Yann Sommer and Shakhtar Donetsk’s Anatoliy Trubin are the targets to come in and hold down the goalkeeping position.

And, for United’s part, they too will want to have certainty about heading into the future with Onana.

The Red Devils’ own preseason also begins shortly. Moreover, they will soon depart for a preseason tour of the US, as Inter will of Japan.

Therefore, for both clubs, there is ample motivation to want to confirm the transfer very soon.

The player, as well, will not want his future in the balance for much longer. If he is going to be a United player next season, he’ll want to know so that he can start making the adjustment and preparing for the season with his new teammates.

Accordingly, Sky UK report, both Inter and United want to wrap up the talks very soon. Thursday is the date they’ve marked to have the transfer confirmed.
