Talks for Romelu Lukaku are heating up between Inter Milan and Chelsea after the Nerazzurri make an offer of £25.7 million.

This according to UK news outlet the Evening Standard, who report that the two clubs are starting to finally get to a phase in talks where they’re ready to try and make a deal.

Inter are still not offering Chelsea a fee close to the £40 million that the Premier League giants are hoping for.

However, the Nerazzurri are increasing the amount on offer with each bid. And for their part, the Blues are no longer rejecting the offers out of hand.

Not only have Inter completely given up on the prospect of another loan move, including a paid loan with a purchase obligation. They are also aiming to get within a reasonable distance of the Blues’s valuation with add-ons.

Now, the talks are finally getting to a serious stage.

After several weeks of looking like neither club was willing to meet the other’s terms, they are actually making an effort to move together.

Inter Milan & Chelsea Rapidly Getting Closer Together In Romelu Lukaku Talks

As the Evening Standard note, Lukaku has flatly rejected the possibility of a move to Al-Hilal.

This would have been Chelsea’s preferred transfer, considering the Saudi Pro League would offer their entire £40 million asking price. Moreover, they would also put astronomical wages on the plate in their offer to the player.

However, Lukaku has made it clear. Al-Hilal are not a consideration for him.

Now, the Saudi giants have moved on to targeting Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic instead of the Belgian.

As such, Chelsea have accepted that they will have to negotiate with Inter. And for their part, the Nerazzurri are doing everything they can financially speaking to reach the Blues’ valuation.

Accordingly, the next few days could see the two clubs quickly reach an agreement after several weeks of failed talks.
