Inter Milan have reopened communication with striker Romelu Lukaku, but the deal to sign the Belgian could collapse.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the Nerazzurri are now speaking with the 30-year-old Belgian international, but that their mood has been very soured by the events of the past 24 hours.

Inter’s directors are currently very frustrated with Lukaku.

Yesterday, the Nerazzurri reached an agreement with Chelsea on a transfer of the Belgian. After weeks of negotiations, the two clubs finally found common ground to work out a permanent sale.

And yet, a shock twist arrived in the form of the player concerned suddenly going AWOL.

Yesterday, both Inter and Chelsea struggled to get a hold of Lukaku, or his the lawyer representing him Sebastien Ledure.

It was then revealed that Ledure has been negotiating with Juventus in parallel to the talks with Inter. And moreover, that Lukaku would be more open than anyone expected to making a shock move to the Bianconeri.

Inter Milan Reopen Talks With Romelu Lukaku – But The Atmsophere Is Tense

Inter’s priority has therefore been to get back in touch with Lukaku to try and sort the situation out.

The Gazzetta report that now the communication is back open. The talks are ongoing.

Inter have conveyed to Lukaku how upset they are by recent developments, however. The club directors have communicated to the 30-year-old striker that they do not consider his sudden about-face to be acceptable.

So annoyed with Lukaku are the Nerazzurri that they could very well pull the plug on the deal to sign him.

If Inter feel that the player’s behaviour has been, essentially, a betrayal, they may well simply move on to other targets.

Therefore, the mood in the talks is currently fraught. The Nerazzurri are clearly reproaching Lukaku, and sounding out what the player’s position really is.

Accordingly, these talks will likely be decisive – if they don’t go as Inter want them to, they may walk away from negotiations abruptly.
