Inter Milan have informed Romelu Lukaku that they won’t be signing him from Chelsea.

This according to Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, who reports on his homepage that the Nerazzurri have pulled out of the race for the 30-year-old and will look for other strikers, whilst the player is in negotiations with Juventus.

The Lukaku transfer saga has taken an extraordinary turn in the past day or so.

Di Marzio confirms that yesterday Inter and Chelsea reached a complete agreement on a deal worth in the region of €40 million for the permanent transfer of the Belgian international

However, the Nerazzurri have been unable to get in touch with Lukaku. Both club directors and also former teammates attempted to reach the striker via the phone.

They were unable to, however.

The main reason for this is that Lukaku has also been in negotiations with Inter’s Serie A rivals Juventus. Di Marzio reports that the talks with the Bianconeri have been ongoing for a number of weeks.

Lukaku and Juventus have been in talks since before Inter played in the Champions League final.

Inter Milan Will Not Sign Romelu Lukaku – Looking For Other Targets Now

Di Marzio reports that Inter Sporting Director Piero Ausilio did finally manage to get Lukaku on the phone yesterday.

There was only a brief conversation, however. Di Marzio states that the call lasted all of thirty seconds.

Ausilio’s message to Lukaku was simple – it’s over. There will be no return to Inter for the 30-year-old, one way or the other.

Inter will inform Chelsea that they are pulling out of talks.

What happens next for Lukaku is now somewhat up in the air. He certainly won’t be joining Inter, but Juventus will have to sell Dusan Vlahovic before they can sign him.

Other possibilities would be a move to the Saudi Pro League, or staying at Chelsea after all.

In the meantime, Inter are left scrambling to change their plans. They’ll look for a different striker to sign.
