Inter Milan are still hoping to whittle down the fee to sign Bayern Munich goalkeeper Yann Sommer to €4 million.

This according to SportItalia transfer market expert Alfredo Pedulla, who reported live on air via FCInter1908 that the Nerazzurri are still aiming to go a little lower than the Swiss international’s €6 million release clause to sign him.

Inter don’t want to wait around much longer at all to complete a deal to sign Sommer.

The Nerazzurri have, for all intents and purposes, sold Andre Onana to Manchester United – the Cameroonian is arriving in Manchester today to complete his move.

Now, Inter’s next task is to sign a replacement for the Cameroonian.

There isn’t much time to do so before the team leave on their preseason tour of Japan. Therefore, the Nerazzurri are already much of the way towards making their first goalkeeping signing of the summer.

Inter Milan Still Aiming For Slightly Lower Fee For Yann Sommer

According to Pedulla, however, Inter are not yet ready to pay the €6 million release clause for the 35-year-old.

Whilst the Nerazzurri don’t want to wait much longer to complete the signing, they’re still making one final effort to lower the fee.

Pedulla reports that Inter’s intention is to get the fee down from €6 million to €4 million.

If, however, the Bavarians dig in their heels and the Nerazzurri can not agree a deal on this basis, however, Inter will simply pay the release clause and get a move on.

Signing Sommer is a priority now that Onana’s sale to Man United is close to the finish line.

Reportedly, Inter spent today working on the final details for a contract for Sommer.

Pedulla also notes that Sommer played no part in Bayern’s friendly win over Rottach-Egern today. This would seem to be a further sign that a transfer is imminent for the 35-year-old.
