Striker Samuele Mulattieri feels that joining both Inter Milan and Sassuolo were the right choices for him.

Speaking to the official social media channel of Sassuolo, via FCInterNews, the 22-year-old gave his thoughts about both the time that he spent with the Nerazzurri, and his decision to make the switch to the Neroverdi this summer.

Italy Under-21 international Mulattieri officially left Inter this summer.

The striker joined Sassuolo as part of a deal that saw Davide Frattesi come the other way.

This ends a Nerazzurri tenure that lasted five years – Mulattieri had joined Inter from Spezia in 2018.

After joining, the striker spent two seasons playing with the Nerazzurri’s youth teams. Then, he made the move on loan to Volendam in the Netherlands.

After a free-scoring season in the Netherlands, Mulattieri made two further loan spells, both in Serie B. During the season before last, the Italian was at Crotone on loan. Then, last time around, it was Frosinone.

Mulattieri played a key role in Frosinone achieving promotion to Serie A.

The 22-year-old’s individual performances last season were also enough to move him a move to Sassuolo.

Given the Emilian team’s reputation for developing young players, Mulattieri could be in for yet another season of growth, though it will no longer be as an Inter player.

Mulattieri Reflects On Inter Milan Stint & Decision To Join Sassuolo

“Inter made it very clear how much they wanted me,” Mulattieri said. “So that made it an easy choice to join,” of his move from Spezia in 2018.

“Then, I played for two seasons in the Primavera team.”

“After that, it was three different loan spells.”

Of his decision to join Volendam on loan, Mulattieri explained that “There were some teams interested in me in Italy. But they weren’t necessarily top teams.”

“Volendam made it clear how much they wanted to sign me,” he continued.

“Their coach Wim Jonk had also played for Inter in the past,” Mulattieri noted. “So that was a factor in my decision.”

He also observed that “For a young player, the important thing was to play.”

Mulattieri also called his new club Sassuolo “A great club, very organized. They are excellent with young players.”

“When I heard that they were interested in me, I didn’t think twice. I said yes immediately.”
