Bayern Munich goalkeeper Yann Sommer is now just one step away from joining Inter Milan.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the 34-year-old will imminently make the switch after the parties sort out the few details that remain.

Inter don’t want to wait around much longer at all to complete a deal to sign Sommer.

The Nerazzurri have, for all intents and purposes, sold Andre Onana to Manchester United – the Cameroonian is arriving in Manchester today to complete his move.

Now, Inter’s next task is to sign a replacement for the Cameroonian.

There isn’t much time to do so before the team leave on their preseason tour of Japan. Therefore, the Nerazzurri are already much of the way towards making their first goalkeeping signing of the summer.

Sommer did not play any part in Bayern’s friendly match against Rottach-Egerin yesterday.

This was certainly an indication that the Swiss is not likely to remain in Bavaria for much longer. Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili is reportedly the player who will replace Sommer at the Allianz Arena.

Inter Milan To Complete Signing Of Yann Sommer From Bayern Munich Very Soon

According to the Corriere, there are just a couple more things that Inter must do to wrap up the signing of Sommer.

First, the newspaper reports, Inter will aim to secure a final agreement with Bayern regarding the payment structure. The Nerazzurri will pay the Swiss international’s full release clause of €6 million.

However, Inter want to pay that fee in two instalments. As of yet, Bayern have not given the go-ahead in that respect.

Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri are just ironing out the final details of a contract for Sommer as well.

Currently, the former Borussia Monchengladbach man earns €5 million net per season with Bayern. That will have to come down for him to join Inter.

The Corriere report that the Nerazzurri and Sommer are negotiating a contract on the basis of a likely two-year deal containing an option of an additional season.
