Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella is a big fan of his new Nerazzurri teammate Davide Frattesi.

Speaking to InterTV, via FCInterNews, the 26-year-old gave his thoughts on returning to preseason with a lot of familiar faces missing, but one player he’s already gotten to know well through the Italian national team added to the mix.

Barella’s return to training means that he is linking back up with a number of players who he’s already been working with for several years.

However, not all of the players who the Italian international had as teammates last season are still at the club.

Nerazzurri stalwarts like Marcelo Brozovic, Danilo D’Ambrosio, Milan Skriniar, and Samir Handanovic have said goodbye.

And, in their place, some new signings have arrived.

This is simply the way it goes in football. Teams cannot stay together, and each summer there are players coming and going.

Among the players who Inter have added to the squad this summer in their efforts to refresh the team is Davide Frattesi. The 23-year-old joins on a five-year deal from Sassuolo.

Frattesi is a player who Barella will already know from working together with the Italian national team.

The pair have some similarities. Both are box-to-box-midfielders. Moreover, Frattesi arrives in similar circumstances to when Barella signed from Cagliari in 2019.

And for his part, Barella feels that Frattesi is a player with significant quality.

Nicolo Barella Full Of Praise For New Inter Milan Teammate Davide Frattesi

Barella gave his thoughts on his new teammate, stating that “He’s a great player. I’ve had a chance to get to know him with the national team as well.”

“I’ve followed him at Sassuolo, we talked and I complimented him,” Barella added of Frattesi. “So I’m glad that he’s joined Inter.”

“I’m sure he’ll give us a massive hand,” he said. “Inter comes first. We’ll try to keep on doing what we’ve done over the years. We want to create something beautiful among ourselves, and also with our fans.”

“We’ll fight hard to keep Inter at the levels we’ve brought it back to,” Barella added.

“I’ve always felt the desire to win, to help the team in whatever I can.”

“Whether that’s with goals, assists, or performances, it’s the objectives of the team that matter.”

Of returning to training, Barella admitted that “It’s a bit strange coming back here and not seeing some teammates who’ve been here with me for the last four years. But football is like that.”
