Inter Milan have made an offer of €4 million to sign Bayern Munich goalkeeper Yann Sommer.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri are anticipating that the Bavarians will deliver their response to the offer today.

Inter have now been hovering over Sommer for a number of days without making a decisive move to sign the 34-year-old.

The Nerazzurri have wanted to wrap up a deal for Sommer quickly after selling Andre Onana to Manchester United.

However, Inter had not tabled a formal offer to Bayern until the past couple days.

That has changed, though reports the Gazzetta.

The Nerazzurri have put forward a bid of €4 million. This is below the release clause of €6 million in Sommer’s contract with Bayern.

However, Inter are hoping that the German champions will not hold out for the entire release clause.

In any event, the Gazzetta reports, Inter believe that they’ll know Bayern’s response soon. They expect to hear back from the Bavarians today.

Inter Milan Hoping To Make Rapid Progress In Yann Sommer Pursuit

With Onana and also Handanovic having left, Inter are running out of time to sort out the goalkeeping situation.

The Nerazzurri head out on their preseason tour of Japan tomorrow.

The club’s aim had been to bring in Sommer in time for then. Now, that looks to be in a lot of doubt.

Even if Bayern were to immediately say yes to Inter’s offer for Sommer, it would still take some time to complete the signing.

However, the Nerazzurri could do the deal in the next couple days.

Even if Sommer is not on the plane for Japan tomorrow, he could link up with the squad in Japan in the coming week. This would give the Swiss international time to be part of friendly matches against Paris Saint-Germain and Al-Nassr.
