Inter Milan have rejected the initial offer of Wolfsburg for wingback Robin Gosens.

This according to German broadcaster Sky Sports Deutschland, via FCInter1908, who also report that Union Berlin have withdrawn from the race to sign the 28-year-old.

Wolfsburg are keen to sign Gosens this summer.

And both the player and Inter are willing to consider offers.

Last season, the former Atalanta man never really nailed down a starting place for himself at Inter.

Towards the final months of the campaign, Gosens did regularly start matches, alternating with Federico Dimarco on the left. However, in the most important matches it was virtually always the Italian who got the nod.

For Gosens, playing time will be the priority for next season. The German wants to stake his claim with the German national team.

At the World Cup, Gosens missed out from Die Mannschaft’s squad. This came after he had been behind Dimarco, and before that, Ivan Perisic in the pecking order at Inter.

Therefore, reports suggest that playing time will be Gosens’s playing time. The German would like to stay at Inter, but would prefer a move away if that means that he’s likelier to receive assurance regarding playing time.

Inter Milan Reject Initial Wolfsburg Offer For Robin Gosens

According to Sky Deutschland, Wolfsburg have made an initial bid to Inter worth €14 million.

The Bundesliga team’s offer is to sign Gosens on loan for next season, with a conditional obligation to sign the German for that fee.

That is not high enough for Inter.

The Nerazzurri may be willing to sell Gosens for less than the €27 million they paid to sign him from Atalanta in January of 2021. However, they do not want to take too much of a loss on his departure.

Meanwhile, Sky Deutschland reports, Union Berlin are no longer trying to sign Gosens.
