Sealing a deal for Bayern Munich’s Yann Sommer is Inter Milan’s priority in goal despite rumoured interest in Aston Villa’s Emi Martinez.

This according to Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio. He reports on his homepage that there has been no confirmation of the links between the Nerazzurri and 30-year-old Argentine international Martinez.

A report from earlier today suggested that Inter have shown a serious interest in signing Villa keeper Martinez.

Rumours from Argentine media suggest that the Nerazzurri have already made an offer to Villa for the ex-Arsenal keeper. Journalist Gaston Edul reports that the fee they’ve offered is around €15 million.

However, Di Marzio has poured some cold water on these links.

According to the Sky transfer market expert, he has not found any confirmation of moves by Inter to sign Martinez.

Rather, the Nerazzurri’s priority is the same as it reportedly has been for a couple weeks now – to sign Sommer.

Di Marzio: Yann Sommer The Major Target For Inter, Not Emi Martinez

Inter have now been hovering over Sommer for a number of days without making a decisive move to sign the 34-year-old.

The Nerazzurri have wanted to wrap up a deal for Sommer quickly after selling Andre Onana to Manchester United.

The fact that Inter captain Samir Handanovic has also left the club means that the Nerazzurri are currently without a starting-quality senior goalkeeper in their squad.

Inter have failed in their objective of signing Sommer before their preseason tour of Japan. They are currently in the country, but have not yet signed the Swiss.

In any event, Di Marzio reports, signing Sommer is Inter’s priority.

Whether they do so for the Swiss international’s €6 million release clause or for a lower fee remains to be seen.

But one thing is clear, Di Marzio expects – Sommer, and not Martinez, is the player Inter will push to sign.
