Bayern Munich will give the go-ahead on the transfer of goalkeeper Yann Sommer to Inter Milan in the next day or two.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Sommer wants to make the switch to Inter.

The Swiss has had a full agreement with the Nerazzurri on a deal for some time. He has told Bayern that he’s grateful for the experience of the last six months, but wants to try his hand at a different adventure in Serie A now.

And now time is increasingly of the essence.

Inter are already in Japan for their preseason tour, and they are there without a starting-quality keeper.

The Nerazzurri want to wrap up Sommer’s signing as soon as possible. They want the security of knowing they’ve gotten their man, and to start integrating him into the team.

And for his part, the 34-year-old is of the same mind. Sommer is putting pressure on Bayern to give the decisive green light on the deal very soon.

Bayern Munich To Agree Deal With Inter Milan For Yann Sommer Very Soon

According to the Gazzetta, all systems will be go within the next day or two.

Bayern travelled to Japan yesterday. Therefore, it’s hardly out of the question that Sommer could even make the switch from the German champions to Champions League finalists Inter whilst both clubs are on their respective preseason tours in the country.

Sommer has a release clause in his contract with Bayern worth €6 million.

Inter have been hoping to pay a lower fee than that. But more than that, the Nerazzurri have declined to trigger Sommer’s release clause as long as Bayern haven’t been ready for his departure.

The Bavarians must sign a replacement. With captain Manuel Neuer’s fitness a question mark, they would also lack a starting keeper without Sommer.

However, the Gazzetta report, Bayern are closing in on a target.

They are pushing to sign 27-year-old Brentford and Spain keeper David Raya, according to the newspaper.

So, Bayern’s resistance should not hold for very much longer at all. They will give the final go-ahead on a move for Sommer to Inter imminently.
