Inter Milan wingback Federico Dimarco feels that while the Nerazzurri have lost some quality players, they’ve also replaced well.
Speaking in a press conference, as reported by FCInterNews, the 25-year-old gave his thoughts ahead of the upcoming season whilst the team are in Japan for their preseason.
Inter have said goodbye to a couple players who had been key for them in the last couple seasons.
Perhaps most prominent has been the big money sale of Andre Onana to Manchester United.
Apart from the Cameroonian’s departure, there’s been Marcelo Brozovic joining Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.
But on the other hand, there have already been some big signings coming in the other direction.
Marcus Thuram has signed on a free transfer to take the place of Edin Dzeko.
And in midfielder, Davide Frattesi will give the Nerazzurri a much different look over the next season.
It’s going to be a season of change, and the team will have to adjust. But that is exactly what the Nerazzurri squad are trying to do in preseason, and Dimarco feels that the new players can make a positive difference and give Inter room to grow.
Federico Dimarco: Big Players Gone, But Exciting New Additions At Inter
“We’ve lot a lot of top players with a lot of experience,” Dimarco said. “But at the same time we’ve signed younger players with great prospects like Thuram, Frattesi, and Bisseck.”
“Then there’s Cuadrado, who has experience, having reached a Champions League final.”
Of the Nerazzurri’s friendly opponents in Japan, Dimarco said that “PSG is a strong team, full of top-class players.”
“Al-Nassr, ditto, and then they’ve also signed some top players from Europe,” he added.
“Including Marcelo Brozovic, who played for us.”
Of last season, Dimarco called it “One of the most incredible of my entire career.”
“We won two trophies and did something very special by reaching the Champions League final, even if we lost in the final.”
“The important thing was to make the club and fans proud” he added.
