Inter Milan still have not made Aston Villa an offer for goalkeeper Emi Martinez despite reports to the contrary.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri would only consider the Argentine to be a target in the event that they are unable to sign Yann Sommer from Bayern Munich.

Yesterday, a report emerged from Argentine media that Inter had made an offer for Martinez.

However, according to Tuttosport, that is not true.

There are some tentative links between the Nerazzurri and the World Cup winners, who has been offered to Inter.

But, Tuttosport stress, the Nerazzurri already have a clear priority target in mind. They are trying to sign Yann Sommer from Bayern Munich.

Inter Milan Would Only Move For Emi Martinez If Yann Sommer Pursuit Fails

Whilst Bayern are insisting on keeping hold of Sommer whilst they sort out their own goalkeeping situation, it looks only a matter of time.

The Bavarians are looking at possible signings to replace Sommer and reinforce the position. Among these are Sevilla’s Yassine Bounou and Hoffenheim’s Oliver Baumann.

In any event, once Bayern reinforce the goal, the transfer of Sommer to Inter should go through.

Therefore, unless Inter were to miss out on Sommer, they would not have any desire to move for Martinez.

Moreover, there is the matter of the fee on a deal.

Yesterday’s report from Argentine media indicated that the Nerazzurri have already offered €15 million for Martinez.

However, Tuttosport report that Inter’s interest is not in fact that serious.

They have only had some tentative contacts, whilst Sommer is their real target.

And even if Inter were to decide to go after Martinez, they would not likely be able to meet Villa’s asking price.

The Birmingham-based club will demand no less than €30 million, Tuttosport anticipates.
