Italy coach Roberto Mancini believes that Napoli are still the favourites in the Serie A title race, but that Inter Milan cannot be ruled out.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Primo Canale, via FCInterNews, the Azzurri and former Inter and Manchester City coach gave his thoughts on the Serie A title race for the upcoming season.

Over the past four seasons, the Italian top flight has had four different champions.

This has given Serie A a reputation as one of the most competitive and unpredictable top leagues in Europe.

Last season it was Napoli who steamrolled their way to the title. Even a slight dip in form over the final weeks of the campaign wasn’t enough to prevent the Partenopei from winning the Scudetto by a whopping sixteen-point margin.

Naturally, this will lead to expectations that Napoli are, if not the favourites, right up there.

Meanwhile, Inter managed to reach the Champions League final and win both domestic cup competitions last season.

Even despite their highly erratic league form last season, the expectations around the Nerazzurri will be high.

And then AC Milan and Juventus have both won the Serie A title in the past few seasons. Meanwhile, teams like Roma, Lazio, and Atalanta have a sense of unexpressed potential about them.

Mancini Predicts Napoli Favourites In Serie A Title Race But Inter Have Their Chance

Italy coach Mancini observed that “Over the past four seasons, four different teams have won the league.”

“That shows that there’s a lot of uncertainty, we can’t take anything for granted,” he added.

“Napoli are wearing the Scudetto on their shirts, and therefore they start as the team to beat,” the coach went on.

“But Inter are also a strong team.”

He then noted that “Milan have been having an excellent summer transfer window. Juve are always Juve, and then Lazio have also been growing.”
