Legendary former Nerazzurri goalkeeper Walter Zenga feels that Emil Audero would be the ideal signing for Inter Milan in goal.

Speaking on his Instagram story, via FCInterNews, Zenga argued that out of those players who are reportedly on the Nerazzurri’s shortlist for a new goalkeeper, the Blucerchiati keeper would be the one who would make the most sense.

Inter’s search for a goalkeeper is in full swing at this point.

Andre Onana has left for Manchester United, and captain Samir Handanovic has also gone on his way.

The Nerazzurri appear to be casting a wide net in their search for an heir to Onana between the posts. Moreover, financial considerations mean that they must see which opportunities make themselves available.

One player who has reportedly come onto Inter’s radar is Sampdoria keeper Emil Audero.

Given that the Ligurians were relegated to Serie B last season, there is little chance of the 26-year-old sticking around.

Audero has plenty of Serie A experience and will require little in the way of an adjustment period. Even if he is more of a backup option, the Italian would certainly be one of the more reliable players around in the position.

Walter Zenga: Emil Audero An Ideal Option For Inter Milan In Goal

Legendary former Inter keeper Zenga said that “Many of you have asked me which goalkeeper I would prefer to sign.”

He weighed in that “Of all the players who have been linked, I would say I prefer Audero. For his professionalism, as well as his technique and quality.”

Audero joined Sampdoria during the summer of 2018, first on loan from Juventus and then on a permanent deal.

The Italian has made 163 appearances for the Blucerchiati in Serie A over the past five seasons.

He has been capped by Italy at every youth level up to Under-21, but never for the senior team.
