Midfielder Davide Frattesi feels that the fans have always understood that regardless of other transfer rumours, he’s wanted Inter Milan.
Speaking to InterTV, via FCInterNews, the 23-year-old gave his thoughts on his first few days as a Nerazzurri player.
Italian international midfielder Frattesi made the move from Sassuolo earlier this month.
However, the links between he and the Nerazzurri go back further than that.
The Nerazzurri have already been tracking the ex-Neroverdi player since his first season in Serie A. And this summer, they really got serious in their interest.
It became apparent quickly that Inter had identified Frattesi as the right player to refresh their midfield.
That doesn’t mean that the Nerazzurri had a clear path towards signing Frattesi. The likes of AC Milan, Roma, and Juventus also showed a serious interest in the Azzurri midfielder’s signature.
But in the end, Inter won out.
This had a lot to do with how forcefully the Nerazzurri pursued the deal.
And, equally importantly, the player himself always seemed to show a preference for the Nerazzurri.
Now, Frattesi is an Inter player. Next season, he will have the chance to show whether he can live up to the expectations.
And for his part, the 23-year-old is happy to be where he is.
Davide Frattesi: “Delighted To Be At Inter Milan”
Of being at Inter, Frattesi said that “I’m delighted.”
“I was hoping that I’d be able to come to this kind of a team, club, and infrastructure,” the 23-year-old said. “And now I can’t wait to start the season.”
Frattesi noted that “With the way that the transfer went, I think everyone understood that I always wanted Inter. It was my choice.”
“The fans have understood that as well, which is nice.”
Of the friendly matches in Japan, Frattesi said that “Apart from being good matches, they’re also important tests for us. Because they allow us to see what level we’re at.”
