Inter Milan intend to finally wrap up a deal to sign Bayern Munich goalkeeper Yann Sommer within the next 48 hours.

This according to Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, who reported live on air via FCInter1908 that the Nerazzurri are determined to close on the deal for the 34-year-old by this weekend at the latest.

Inter have now been hovering over Sommer for a number of days without making a decisive move to sign the 34-year-old.

The Nerazzurri have wanted to wrap up a deal for Sommer quickly after selling Andre Onana to Manchester United.

The fact that Inter captain Samir Handanovic has also left the club means that the Nerazzurri are currently without a starting-quality senior goalkeeper in their squad.

Inter have failed in their objective of signing Sommer before their preseason tour of Japan. They are currently in the country, but have not yet signed the Swiss.

Now, time is increasingly of the essence for Inter.

The Nerazzurri can hardly afford to keep hitting roadblocks in a deal for Sommer given that the beginning of the Serie A season is just over three weeks away.

Inter Milan Want To Finally Agree Deal To Sign Yann Sommer In Next 48 Hours

Bayern have continued to ask Inter for time and patience.

The Bavarians have goalkeeper issues of their own. At the moment, the fitness of Bayern captain Manuel Neuer is still a question mark, and so Sommer is the only starting-quality keeper in their squad.

As such, Bayern have aimed to wait until securing a replacement before sanctioning Sommer’s departure.

The Swiss international even started for the German champions in a friendly against Manchester City today.

For their part, Inter have been willing to wait.

But that patience is going thin.

The Nerazzurri want to get the deal over the line. And so does Sommer, who has been pushing to finally make the switch.

According to Di Marzio, Inter want to make sure that everything is done within the next 48 hours.
