Bayern Munich have sent Inter Milan a clear message regarding goalkeeper Yann Sommer – they will have to be patient.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who note that the 34-year-old played all ninety minutes of the Bavarians’ friendly clash with Kawasaki in Japan.

Virtually with each passing day, Inter are growing more impatient regarding their chase of Sommer.

The Nerazzurri have wanted to wrap up a deal for the 34-year-old quickly after selling Andre Onana to Manchester United.

The fact that Inter captain Samir Handanovic has also left the club means that the Nerazzurri are currently without a starting-quality senior goalkeeper in their squad.

Inter have failed in their objective of signing Sommer before their preseason tour of Japan. They are currently in the country, but have not yet signed the Swiss.

Now, with the start of the Serie A season just three weeks away, there is a new deadline for the Nerazzurri.

And it is a pressing one – there is no question whatsoever that Inter must head into the start of the season having sorted out their goalkeeping position.

Bayern Munich Make Clear That They’re Not Selling Yann Sommer Just Yet

Inter have been waiting for Bayern to finally give the go-ahead on a deal for Sommer.

The Nerazzurri have not yet triggered the €6 million release clause in the Swiss international’s contract with Bayern.

Part of the reason for this is that Inter are aiming to sign the 34-year-old for less than that. And furthermore, they have been allowing Bayern to continue their search for a replacement for Sommer before completing a deal.

But the Bavarians are still taking their time.

Bayern’s latest idea, the Corriere report, would be to try and loan in Brentford goalkeeper David Raya.

However, that is still some way away from happening.

Therefore, the Corriere suggest, Bayern have continued to send Inter a clear message that they’ll have to wait.

The fact that Sommer not only started, but played all ninety minutes of, the Bavarians’ friendly match against Kawasaki made the point once again.

Whilst Sadio Mane sat the match out as he looks to be on his way to Al-Nasser, Sommer’s situation is different.

He’s still a Bayern player, and will be until his club decide to let him leave.
