Inter Milan will wrap up the signing of goalkeeper Yann Sommer from Bayern Munich after their tour of Japan ends.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri will wrap up a deal for the 34-year-old Swiss international for around €4 million once they are back from their preseason tour.

Inter have now been hovering over Sommer for a number of days without making a decisive move to sign the 34-year-old.

The Nerazzurri have wanted to wrap up a deal for Sommer quickly after selling Andre Onana to Manchester United.

The fact that Inter captain Samir Handanovic has also left the club means that the Nerazzurri are currently without a starting-quality senior goalkeeper in their squad.

Inter have failed in their objective of signing Sommer before their preseason tour of Japan. They are currently in the country, but have not yet signed the Swiss.

Accordingly, the Nerazzurri have been relying on young options like Filip Stankovic in Japan.

Inter will not sign Sommer despite the fact that the Swiss is currently also in the country with Bayern.

The Nerazzurri will still rely on options already within their squad for their friendly match against Paris Saint-Germain.

However, the Gazzetta reports, it won’t be long after the team get back that Sommer will arrive.

Naturally, getting the 34-year-old in for the start of next season in three weeks’ time will be of paramount importance.

And for his part, Sommer has been very keen to make the move. The former Borussia Monchengladbach man has had to be patient, but it will come soon.

Inter will not pay the €6 million release clause in Sommer’s deal with Bayern, the Gazzetta further reports.

Rather, the Nerazzurri will pay around €4 million plus add-ons.
