Borussia Monchengladbach defender Marvin Friedrich feels that Inter Milan would do very well to sign goalkeeper Yann Sommer.

Speaking to Gladbach fan page Fohlen-Hautnah, via FCInterNews, the 27-year-old gave his thoughts about his former teammate amid strong transfer links with the Nerazzurri from Bayern Munich.

At the moment, Sommer is a Bayern player.

The Swiss international joined the Bavarians from Gladbach in the January transfer window of the season just gone.

Sommer had spent nearly a decade playing with Gladbach, however, He made a total of 335 appearances for the Foals.

And now, it looks very possible that Sommer will leave Bayern just a few months after joining.

The 34-year-old will leave with a Bundesliga winner’s medal, though.

After years spent impressing at Gladbach, where he remained loyal despite a lack of trophies, Sommer has marked his career in German football with the country’s biggest prize.

Gladbach Defender Friedrich Praises Yann Sommer’s Quality On The Ball

Now, Sommer could be on the way to Inter, having signed off in the Bundesliga by helping Bayern to win the title.

He will be hoping that he can win more silverware with the Nerazzurri.

Last season, Inter finished a disappointing third in Serie A. However, they reached the Champions League final and also won both domestic cup competitions.

Of the fact that Sommer joined Bayern, Friedrich said that “Yann didn’t join Bayern and become German champion for no reason.”

“He’s an excellent keeper,” the 27-year-old said of the Nerazzurri target.

Friedrich also observed that “Sommer is very good with the ball at his feet.”

This could be a crucial factor in why Inter are going after the Swiss international.

Replacing a keeper as composed and technically proficient with the ball at his feet as Onana was will be no mean feat.

However, the Nerazzurri appear to have identified Sommer as a candidate to do just that.
