Contract talks between Gaetano Castrovilli and Fiorentina are not taking off, with both Inter Milan and Lazio on high alert.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, via FCInterNews, who report that both the Nerazzurri and the Biancocelesti are eyeing up a potential free transfer opportunity should the 26-year-old midfielder not agree a new deal.

Currently, Castrovilli’s contract with Fiorentina is set to run out at the end of next June.

Naturally, La Viola have been trying to tie the Italian international down on a new deal.

However, as of yet they have not been able to reach an agreement.

Whilst there is still plenty of time for the talks to progress, at the moment the Corriere della Sera report that they are not doing so. This, naturally, would put Castrovillin in a position as a potential free transfer opportunity for next season.

Therefore, some of Serie A’s heavy hitters are sitting up and taking notice.

Inter Milan & Lazio Both On Alert As Castrovilli Talks With Fiorentina Not Progressing

The Corriere della Sera name Inter and Lazio as two teams who have a serious interest in signing Castrovilli.

Both of the pair would be thinking about a move next summer. They’re waiting on the outcome of the ongoing contract talks between the Italian international and Fiorentina.

In Inter’s case, they could see Castrovilli as a potential opportunity to bolster an already strong midfield.

The addition of Davide Frattesi to a squad that already contains Nicolo Barella gives the Nerazzurri two of the top box-to-box midfielders in Italy.

Lazar Samardzic looks soon to follow.

Whilst this looks like plenty of depth, the Nerazzurri could strike while the iron is hot if they sense an opportunity to nab Castrovilli.

Meanwhile, Lazio are still rebuilding their midfield following the departure of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
