Shakhtar Donetsk have given goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin an ultimatum amid Inter Milan interest – leave for a high fee or be benched for a season.

This according to Ukrainian news outlet Sport.Novyny, via FCInterNews.

Trubin has been a major target for Inter throughout the summer transfer window.

The Nerazzurri are aiming to sign the 21-year-old as a long-term replacement for Andre Onana in goal.

Yann Sommer looks likely to arrive from Bayern Munich sooner or later as the immediate replacement for the Cameroonian. But Trubin looks to be Inter’s top target to grow into the role well into the future.

And as far as the player is concerned, he is keen on making the move.

Sport.Novyny confirm that the Ukrainian international has already spoken with the Nerazzurri.

Trubin and his representatives have held talks with Inter and he is keen to make the switch. Reports suggest that Trubin would be ready to sign a five-year deal with Inter.

Shakhtar Donetsk Give Inter Target Trubin A Clear Ultimatum

As far as an agreement between Inter and Shakhtar goes, however, that appears far more difficult.

The two clubs are miles apart on a fee.

Inter have been aiming to pay no more than €12 million for Trubin. The Nerazzurri’s expectation has been that because the 21-year-old’s contract runs out at the end of next June, they will have the leverage to sign him for a relatively modest fee.

Shakhtar, on the other hand, have reportedly held out for a fee in the region of €25-30 million.

And for their part, the Ukrainian giants are annoyed with how Trubin has conducted himself during the process.

The 21-year-old has made no secret of his desire to join Inter. He has pushed for the move.

And reports have also suggested that if Inter cannot agree a fee with Shakhtar this summer, then they will simply wait to sign the player on a free transfer in twelve months’ time.

Shakhtar have responded with an ultimatum to the player.

Sport.Novyny report that they have told Trubin that if he does not either extend his contract or accept a move to a club willing to pay a fee they consider acceptable, then he could end up simply sitting on the bench for the entirety of the upcoming season.
