Inter Milan have intensified contacts to try and sign striker Folarin Balogun with Arsenal.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the 22-year-old US international has been left out of the Gunners’ squad for the Community Shield against Manchester City as the talks for his possible transfer to the Nerazzurri heat up.

With the Gianluca Scmacca option now off the table just like that of Romelu Lukaku, Inter are once again getting their bearings in their search for a striker for next season.

Yesterday the club’s directors and Simone Inzaghi held a meeting to discuss their strategy.

And according to the Gazzetta, there was a clear theme as far as what the club’s directors want.

Despite Inter coach Inzaghi preferring a move for a striker like Atletico Madrid’s Alvaro Morata or Porto’s Mehdi Taremi, the directors believe that Balogun is the right direction in which the club should go.

Inter Intensify Folarin Balogun Contacts With Arsenal

According to the Gazzetta, Inter have already started taking key steps.

The Nerazzurri had already opened up some discussions with Arsenal regarding Balogun. However, these were largely just probing the ground.

Now, Inter are more actively trying to sign the 22-year-old.

Now that Scamacca is out of sight, Inter are ready to go all-in to try and sign Balogun.

Moreover, the player himself is reportedly pushing for the move. Balogun wants playing time next season, and has also dropped one or two hints on social media that Inter are the destination he prefers.

Moreover, the Gazzetta notes, Balogun did not have a role to play in the Community Shield.

Arsenal left the American out of the squad as the Gunners dispatched Manchester City in a penalty shootout.

All signs point to Balogun transferring away from Arsenal this summer. And Inter are now making their effort to be the club where he makes the move to.
