Inter Milan will reportedly start working on contract extensions for their key trio Lautaro Martinez, Nicolò Barella and Federico Dimarco.

The Nerazzurri have recently reached an agreement with head coach Simone Inzaghi. The former Lazio boss will renew his contract until 2025.

According to Tuttosport via FcInterNews, the next step will be renewing the contracts of the players who should comprise the club’s backbone for years to come.

While the club’s directors are currently indulged in transfer market activity, they will turn their attention to internal matters in September.

As the source explains, Inter Milan will be looking to extend the contracts of Martinez, Barella and Dimarco.

These three players are some of the club’s most prized assets. So although their current deals run until 2026, the club would like to push back the deadline date.

Perhaps due to the recent Milan Skriniar debacle, the management wants to avoid situations where key players have less than two years remaining on their contracts.

Thus, Inter are determined to reach agreements with the key trio during the course of the 2023/24 campaign.

Following the departure of Samir Handanovic, the club appointed Martinez as the new club captain. The 25-year-old has been spearheading Inter’s charge for years.

For his part, Barella has cemented himself as one of the best box-to-box midfielders in Europe since joining Inter in 2019.

Finally, Dimarco enjoyed a stellar 2022/23 campaign. He proved to be a total menace for the opposition on the left flank.
