Inter Milan are reportedly keeping tabs on Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga for two reasons.

The Nerazzurri are looking to bolster their backline before their season kicks off with an encounter against Monza on August 19.

The Italian giants have parted ways with star defender Milan Skriniar and experienced backup Danilo D’Ambrosio. Both players left as free agents.

Inter picked up the services of young German centre-back Yann Bisseck. However, they still need at least one other new signing at the back.

As we reported yesterday, the Beneamata have reignited their interest in Japhet Tanganga.

The Englishman isn’t a part of Tottenham’s technical project. The North Londoners could be open to loaning him out for the upcoming campaign.

The former England U21 starlet has been acting as a mere benchwarmer since joining Tottenham’s senior squad in 2020.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport via FcInterNews, the Nerazzurri like the Spurs defender for two reasons.

The first is his relatively young age. The 24-year-old still has vast room for improvement and fits the mold set by the management.

The second reason is his versatility. Tanganga is originally a centre-back but can also play on the right side.

Therefore, he could be able to cover for Denzel Dumfries as a right wingback if required.

Inter Milan Have Identified Tottenham Defender Japhet Tanganga As The Right Profile To Bolster Their Backline For Two Reasons

Moreover, the report claims that Inter could face competition from Galatasaray who are also interested in the English defender.

On another note, the source mentions the other profiles that Inter are monitoring for the backline.

Ironically, they all happen to be Atalanta defenders. Of course, we’re talking about Merih Demiral, Rafael Toloi and Jose Palomino.
