Inter Milan have given an ultimatum of 48 hours to midfielder Lazar Samardzic as his transfer from Udinese is at risk of falling through.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who detail the reason why the 21-year-old’s move has hit a major stumbling block after a round of talks between the Nerazzurri and the player’s representatives.

Despite the Serb having undergone his medicals yesterday, he still has not signed his contract.

Today, Samardzic’s agents were at Inter headquarters to try and wrap up the deal.

But reports suggest that the Nerazzurri have refused requests by the player’s entourage to change the financial terms of the deal.

The Gazzetta details the reason for the sudden impasse. And according to the newspaper, they have put the ball in the court of Samardzic to make a decision soon.

According to the Gazzetta, the talks to agree personal terms between Inter and Samardzic were handled by prominent football agent Rafaela Pimenta.

The Nerazzurri and Samardzic fully agreed terms on a five-year deal via Pimenta’s mediation.

However, the newspaper goes on, Samardzic has given power of attorney to his father to represent him in the deal. It was the midfielder’s father who was at Inter’s headquarters today along with other intermediaries.

The Gazzetta go on to report that Samardzic’s father asked Inter for new financial terms.

However, the newspaper report, Inter have dug in their heels on the matter.

After a meeting that lasted a couple hours, they clearly indicated to Samardzic’s representatives that they will only sign the former RB Leipzig midfielder on the basis of the terms agreed with Pimenta representing the player.

Therefore, the Gazzetta reports, Inter have put the ball in the court of the player.

They have told Samardzic that if he is to complete the deal then it will have to be on the original terms. If he and his entourage expect different terms, there will be no transfer.

In any event, the Gazzetta report, Inter expect the 21-year-old’s response by the end of the weekend.
