Inter Milan wingback Robin Gosens is on the verge of joining Union Berlin, with medicals and contract signing set for tomorrow.

This according to German broadcaster Sky Sports Deutschland, via FCInterNews.

Every transfer window since Gosens joined Inter from Atalanta in January of 2022 has been a “will he or won’t he” transfer saga linking Gosens to clubs in the Bundesliga.

This season, it has been Union and Wolfsburg who have been after the German.

The pair have attempted to do what the likes of Bayer Leverkusen failed to last summer by bringing Gosens in.

But in Union’s case, they have found success in their pursuit. The Champions League new boys are looking for reinforcements for their participation in Europe’s top club competition.

Whilst Wolfsburg tried to convince Gosens with an ambitious project, they cannot offer the 29-year-old European football next season.

Gosens On The Verge Of Joining Union Berlin

Gosens arrived at Inter with big expectations based on his exploits for Atalanta and the German national team.

However, the wingback was never quite able to replicate his best form in a Nerazzurri shirt.

Injuries played a role in disrupting Gosens’s momentum. Meanwhile, Ivan Perisic and then Federico Dimarco have started ahead of the German in the biggest matches.

Therefore, Gosens has decided to make the move to his home country.

Getting regular playing time is a priority for the 29-year-old ahead of next summer’s Euros.

Gosens had been one of Germany’s outstanding players at the last Euros. However, at the World Cup in Qatar he did not even receive a call-up, with lack of playing time at club level a key factor.

Now, Gosens will head to Union.

According to Sky Deutschland, Gosens will already make the trip to the German capital tomorrow. There, he’ll undergo medicals, sign his contract, and start preparing for the new season.
