Inter Milan new boys Davide Frattesi and Juan Cuadrado aren’t likely to be in the starting eleven for the Nerazzurri’s Serie A opener against Monza over the weekend.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that Marcus Thuram and Yann Sommer will likely be the only new signings to start against the Brianzoli on Saturday.

Inter head into the upcoming season having remodelled the squad significantly over the summer.

Eight signings have already arrived, and two more are soon to follow in the form of Carlos Augusto and Marko Arnautovic.

Most of the new arrivals of the new arrivals will expect significant playing time. In the case of a few of them, they will likely even be aiming to cement their place in the first-choice starting eleven.

But against Monza on Saturday, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will likely go with the tried-and-true from last season.

Frattesi & Cuadrado Won’t Star Vs Monza – Thuram & Sommer Will

One player who certainly joins Inter with significant expectations is Italian international midfielder Frattesi.

The 23-year-old completed the switch from Monza over the summer.

Through the course of the season, Frattesi will be a player expected to fight for a starting spot. But against Monza, Tuttosport anticipates that he won’t start.

Rather, Inzaghi will go with the first-choice midfield for much of last season. The trio of Nicolo Barella, Hakan Calhanoglu, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan has proven itself to have a strong balance, and Inzaghi won’t want to upset that too much.

Ex-Juventus veteran Cuadrado, as well, will try and stake his claim on a starting place over the season.

However, Tuttosport anticipates that Denzel Dumfries will start against the Brioanzoli.

The newsppaer suggests that Inzaghi won’t want to radically alter a team that already has chemistry. He also won’t want to send a message to any of his reliable regulars from last season that their place is immediately going to be usurped, or that new arrivals can immediately walk into the starting eleven.

However, Tuttosport, the coach will have little choice but to start Thuram and Sommer.

Given that Edin Dzeko and Romelu Lukaku are gone in attack, and Sommer in goal, Inzaghi has little option but to turn to the ex-Borurssia Monchengladbach duo on the opening day of the season.
