Inter Milan have definitively pulled out of talks to sign Udinese midfielder Lazar Samardzic.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the negotiations between the Nerazzurri and Samardzic’s entourage have finally broken down for good after days of flatlining.

Samardzic’s move to Inter had looked to be a done deal weeks ago.

The Nerazzurri managed to find an agreement with Udinese to sign the 21-year-old for a cash fee plus midfielder Giovanni Fabbian.

Samardzic even underwent his medicals last week.

Then, the Nerazzurri held one last round of talks with the Ex-RB Leipzig midfielder’s entourage, ostensibly to wrap up the final details. But there, they were in for a very unpleasant surprise.

Inter Milan Deal To Sign Lazar Samardzic Finally Collapses For Good

New financial requests by Samardzic’s representatives at the eleventh hour in a meeting last Friday instantly put the deal in jeopardy.

Inter had seemingly already agreed personal terms via the mediation of prominent agent Rafaela Pimenta.

However, the player’s representatives, led by his father, wanted to renegotiate before the transfer could go through. They wanted to secure additional financial demands.

The reporting on what these demands were has not been altogether clear. They varied from describing requests for new agent commissions, to increased wage demands.

But what is certain is that Samardzic’s agents wanted more money.

And equally certain is that Inter absolutely dug in their heels on not changing the initial agreement.

The past few days have seen the parties attempt to get the move back on track.

Reportedly, Samardzic’s father hired yet another agent to try and mediate in the talks.

And reports have varied from describing total pessimism to “cautious optimism” as being the moon around the situation.

But now, it’s over for good. The deal is dead in the water.

Inter have decided that there is no point prolonging a situation where there has been no progress for days. They will not sign Samardzic.

Inter Could Rely On Sensi Next Season – Or Sign A New Midfielder

According to the Gazzetta, there is every chance that Inter will reintegrate Stefano Sensi into their first team next season now.

The 28-year-old former Sassuolo midfielder has had an excellent preseason.

Therefore, Sensi could be an option. This despite the fact that he has seemingly never had the full trust of coach Simone Inzaghi, owing to his injury issues.

Inter have sent Sensi out on loan to Sampdoria and Monza in the past couple years.

The Gazzetta note that there is also a possibility that Inter could still go into the transfer market to look for a new midfielder.

Clearly, the Nerazzurri won’t want to head into the season with just five senior midfielders. So they’ll either call upon Sensi, or sign someone new.

But the one player who certainly won’t be wearing the Inter shirt next season is Samardzic.
