Torino are in talks to bring back wingback Valentino Lazaro from Inter Milan as a replacement for Monaco bound WIlfried Singo.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews.

Lazaro spent last season on loan with Torino.

This was hardly the first time that the 27-year-old Austrian international has been out on loan since joining Inter from Hertha Berlin in the summer of 2019.

Lazaro has gone out on loan to Newcastle United, Borussia Monchegnladbach, and Benfica.

None of those have decided to sign the Austrian on a permanent basis. And neither, it seems, had Torino.

The Granata had the option to do so. Reportedly, they had a purchase option on Lazaro worth around €7 million.

And initially, Torino showed an interest in exercising that clause. Lazaro enjoyed a fairly positive season, as he fit in well to Granata coach Ivan Juric’s customary 3-5-2 system, even if a knee injury ruled him out for a few months in mid-season.

However, Torino also asked Inter for a discount to sign Lazaro. And in the end, they decided against activating the purchase option.

Torino Could Still Sign Valentino Lazaro From Inter

However, Torino are now on the verge of selling another wingback from their squad.

Ivorian international Wilfried Singo is close to making the move to Monaco for next season.

Therefore, the Granata will likely have to bring in a player to reinforce on the flanks for next season. Particularly after Ola Aina also left, joining Nottingham Forest on a free transfer.

Torino have not given up on young Atalanta wingback Brandon Soppy yet.

However, another option would be to bring back Lazaro.

The Austrian had done fairly well last season. The Granata were happy with the player’s performances despite the fact they didn’t activate his purchase option.

Therefore, Sky reports, Torino are in talks with Inter to sign the 27-year-old.
