Former Inter Milan striker Alexis Sanchez is reportedly still hoping for a return to the Giuseppe Meazza, but this depends on Joaquin Correa.

The Chilean spent three campaigns with the Nerazzurri between 2019 and 2022, winning a Scudetto title and a Coppa Italia. He also scored the last-gasp winner in the Italian Super Cup against Juventus.

The 34-year-old plied his trade at Marseille last season. However, his collaboration with the Southern French club only lasted for a solitary campaign.

The former Barcelona, Arsenal and Man Utd star now finds himself unattached.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport via FcInterNews, Sanchez is still anticipating a call from Inter Milan.

But as the source explains, the Nerazzurri would only bring the veteran back if they manage to offload Joaquin Correa.

Alexis Sanchez Is Waiting For A Call From Inter Milan But His Return Depends On Joaquin Correa

The 29-year-old accompanied Simone Inzaghi from Lazio to Inter in the summer of 2021. However, he hasn’t been able to replicate the inspiring displays showcased in the Italian capital.

In what could be a major blow for Sanchez and his hopes of sealing a return, the source claims that Correa doesn’t intend to leave Appiano Gentile.

The Argentine could remain and fight for a highly unlikely starting berth against Lautaro Martinez, Marcus Thuram and Marko Arnautovic.

Speaking of the Austrian veteran, the report reveals that he’ll be wearing the Number 8 jersey following his return to the club.

The 34-year-old officially completed his transfer from Bologna to Inter Milan earlier this week.
