Inter Milan reportedly have around 15 million euros to spend on a new defender this summer, while Chelsea youth product Trevoh Chalobah remains on the shortlist.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, the Nerazzurri still have 15 million remaining on the transfer kit.

The Italian giants have completed the signing of veteran striker Marko Arnautovic this week. The Bologna bomber cost the club’s coffers 10 million euros.

The Beneamata were supposed to spend around 16 million on Lazar Samardzic next summer to trigger an option/obligation to buy the player. However, the deal has recently collapsed.

So instead of pursuing an alternative option in the middle of the park, Inter decided to invest this sum to bolster their backline.

As the source explains, Inter remain in constant contact with Chelsea. The two clubs have been negotiating a possible transfer for Trevoh Chalobah.

Inter Milan And Chelsea Remain In Contact Over Trevoh Chalobah

The 24-year-old is a youth product of the Blues. He rose to the scene in 2021/22. But in recent seasons, his amount of playing time has been dwindling.

Therefore, the former England U21 starlet could be looking to revive his playing career away from the Stamford Bridge.

The Englishman is primarily a centre-back but can also play at right-bach. Thus, he would be a natural fit in Simone Inzaghi’s 3-5-2 formation as a right centre-back.

Chalobah has a contract with Chelsea that runs until 2028 with an option for an additional season.
