Inter Milan have identified Torino defender Perr Schuurs as an alternative if they’re unable to sign Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInter1908.

Over the final frantic couple weeks of the summer transfer window, Inter’s priority appears to be to sign a defender.

After the Nerazzurri’s deal to sign Lazar Samardzic from Udinese collapsed, they have shifted their focus to investing in a younger, top-class defender to replace Milan Skriniar, an objective they’ve gone all summer without completing.

Bayern and France defender Pavard is the player who Inter have in their sights.

However, there is no guarantee that the Nerazzurri will be able to wrap up a deal for the 27-year-old.

Inter are still awaiting a response from the Bavarians to their offer, reportedly around €30 million.

In the meantime, FCIN1908 note, the Nerazzurri are also scanning for other possible defensive signings. And the outlet names one player in particular as a possible option, from within Serie A rather than abroad.

Inter Line Up Torino Defender Perr Schuurs As Pavard Plan B

23-year-olf Dutch under-21 international Schuurs had an impressive campaign with Torino last season.

Schuurs joined the Granata from Ajax last summer as a replacement for Bremer, who joined Juventus.

Replacing Bremer was always going to be a tough task for the Dutchman – the Brazilian had been named as the best defender in Serie A during the 2021-22 season.

However, Schuurs made sure that Bremer’s absence was hardly felt. The former Ajax man enjoyed an outstanding campaign at the heart of Torino’s defense.

This has led to plenty of transfer interest in the 23-year-old.

Liverpool have been eyeing Schuurs up for some time. Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly also thinking about a move.

But, FCIN1908 report. Inter would be ready to join the English clubs in the race if they miss out on signing Pavard.

Considering the Nerazzurri have also agreed a deal to sell Valentino Lazaro to Torino, the clubs are already in talks.
