Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard is determined to join Inter Milan, with the talks between the clubs still ongoing.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Yesterday, Inter CEO Beppe Marotta made no effort to hide the fact that the Nerazzurri are trying to sign Pavard.

Moreover, the Nerazzurri executive also admitted that the player himself wants the move.

According to the Gazzetta, what Marotta said was wholly correct. Pavard has made joining Inter his priority for the summer.

However, that certainly doesn’t mean that negotiations between the Nerazzurri and Bayern are easy.

Marotta also admitted as much in his remarks yesterday. The Inter CEO seemed to confirm that Bayern will be reluctant to part ways with Pavard as long as they do not have a like-for-like replacement lined up.

Pavard Wants Inter – Now Negotiations With Bayern Continue

According to the Gazzetta, Inter CEO Marotta has been the man attending to the negotiations with Bayern personally.

Marotta enjoys a particularly good working relationship with the Bayern hierarchy. Therefore he has been attempting to rely on that rapport to try and convince the German champions to open up to the deal.

Bayern have already turned down an offer from Manchester United. A crucial factor there, however, was that Pavard is not pushing to join the Red Devils.

With Inter, the Frenchman will actually put pressure on his club.

Pavard has not hidden the fact that he wants Inter. From his social media activity to his absence from the team that faced Werder Bremen in Bayern’s opener and sulky demeanour in a subsequent friendly, he has made his feelings clear.

Now it’s up to Inter and Bayern.

The Nerazzurri have reportedly offered around €30 million in total so far.

Bayern want somewhere in the region of €35 million.

So the basis for negotiations is certainly there. But there are factors – not least Bayern’s desire for a replacement – that make the talks sensitive.
