Yet, Bayern boss Tuchel is refusing to let the French defender leave unless a capable replacement lands in Bavaria.

The tactician confirmed as much in Friday’s pre-match press conference. The former Chelsea manager reveals that the 27-year-old defender has made a transfer request, but the timing doesn’t suit the Bundesliga giants.

“Moreover, the contractual situation must be considered. This request surprised me a little, but we have to think about the interests of our club.

“Thus, the right offer must arrive, but we must also have enough time to find a replacement. For now I will continue to rely on Benjamin.”
