Inter Milan remain confident in their chances of landing Bayern Munich star Benjamin Pavard despite facing recent hurdles.

Thursday proved to be a hectic day on this front. Even though the Nerazzurri already have an agreement in place with both the player and the club, Thomas Tuchel is still blocking the operation.

The Bayern manager doesn’t intend to release the 27-year-old before acquiring a suitable replacement.

Nevertheless, La Gazzetta dello Sport (via FcInterNews) downplays the whole incident. The pink newspaper considers it a “slight alarm” rather than a blow to Inter’s chances.

The source still expects to Italian giants to finalize the transfer. The Bavarians would receive 30 million euros in addition to 2M as add-ons.

Inter Milan Remain Optimistic In Their Chances To Land Benjamin Pavard But But Their Patience Has A Limit

As for the defender, he should eventually sign a five-year contract with Inter that will see him pocket 4 million euros per season as net wages.

So as the report tells it, Pavard has already packed his bags awaiting the green light to take the flight to Milano.

But while the Nerazzurri remain optimistic, they can ill afford to wait too long. The club is in dire need for a new defender who can replace Milan Skriniar. And with the market doors shutting next week, Inter must find a solution one way or the other.

So if the Beneamata fail to unlock Pavard’s transfer by Sunday, they will, at the very least, start pondering alternative options.

As we reported last night, Torino defender Perr Schuurs emerged as a fallback option.
