Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries feels that the Nerazzurri have replaced well in the summer despite losing some key players.

Speaking to InterTV after yesterday’s Serie A win over Cagliari, via FCInterNews, the Dutchman gave his thoughts on the squad after a busy summer transfer window.

Inter have certainly had an eventful summer transfer window.

The Nerazzurri have lost twelve players from last season’s senior squad.

Replacing them have been eleven new signings, plus a returning Stefano Sensi.

Clearly, it will take time for the team to come together after so much upheaval in the squad.

So far, it has mostly been players already in the squad like Dumfries who have played the most. Meanwhile, the new arrivals have taken more time to bed in and find their feet.

But the early signs are that the new arrivals can fit in well and replace the players who’ve left.

The Nerazzurri squad has a blend of veterans and players with room to grow that is already starting to make itself apparent early on in the season.

Inter Milan Wingback Denzel Dumfries Happy With Squad

“We have a good team,” Dumfries said.

“We’ve lost a lot of players but we’ve also brought in new players with a lot of quality,” he continued.

“When you come to Inter you join a family, that’s the thing that’s so great.”

Of his opening goal against Cagliari yesterday, Dumfries said that “It had been too long since I scored a goal in the league.”

“But now we’re already looking ahead, the important thing is to win, regardless of who scores.”

“This season we’re scoring more than we were last time around, and I’m happy to have scored today.”

As to how many goals he’ll score this season, Dumfries replied “Hard to say. But I want to score and assist as many goals as possible to help the team.”
