Legendary former Inter Milan President Massimo Moratti feels that Napoli are still the favourites for the Serie A title.

Speaking to Rome-based newspaper Il Fatto Quotdiano in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews, the former Nerazzurri President also expressed his feeling of vindication at the recent rejection of the final Calciopoli appeal by Juventus.

The Serie A season is only a couple of weekends old.

However, the hierarchy within the title race already looks to be fairly clear.

All three of defending champions Napoli, and city rivals Inter and AC Milan have taken six points from six.

The trio are the teams to have won the last three Serie A titles.

Moreover, the manner of each team’s victories has put the rest of the league on notice.

Meanwhile, Juventus have won once and drawn once – it would not be hard for the Bianconeri to quickly catch up if they find the right balance.

A mixed start for Atalanta, and major early stumbles by Roma and Lazio, meanwhile, leave the underdog contenders with a mountain to climb right from the off.

Ex Inter President Moratti Feels Napoli Still Serie A Title Favourites

Of the title race, former Inter President Moratti said that “It seems like there’s a real balance at the top.”

“Still, Napoli remain the strongest team,” he argued.

“And I didn’t expect this false start from the two Rome teams.”

Of Giallorossi and former Inter coach Jose Mourinho, Moratti said “He remains the same as ever. He knows how to win everyone at a club over, but he’s also extremely serious and professional.”

And Moratti also reacted to the latest rejection of an appeal by Juventus to revoke Inter’s 2005-06 Serie A title.

There has always been some controversy around the circumstances of that title, as it came amid the Calciopoli scandal.

“I never expected this matter would still be at stake at this point,” Moratti said.

“It’s only right that it would finally be put to rest like this.”
