Simone Inzaghi has been praised for masterminding Inter Milan’s second win of the season against Cagliari yesterday evening.

As L’Interstia highlight, the player ratings for the match across Italian media singled the coach out for praise for the well-oiled nature of the Nerazzurri’s victory.

Inzaghi decided to go with the same starting eleven he had put out against Monza to face Cagliari.

Nine of the starters had been at Inter last season. And two – goalkeeper Yann Sommer and forward Marcus Thuram – were summer signings.

Perhaps some fans who have hoped to see what new arrivals can do right away will have been disappointed.

But on the pitch, the team has vindicated Inzaghi’s faith in his trusted servants to do the job.

Simone Inzaghi Wins Praise After Inter Milan Victory Vs Cagliari

Inter looked like a team with a clear plan from the first minute against Cagliari.

From their trusty 3-5-2 shape, Inter would look to win the ball and establish possession in midfield. Then, through either quick passing combination or long passes, the team attacked quickly.

Forward Lautaro Martinez and wingbacks Denzel Dumfries and Federico Dimarco were useful outlets.

This is hardly surprising considering that all have now had a couple seasons working with Inzaghi under their belt.

Meanwhile, new summer arrival Marcus Thuram looked as though he’s been at Inter far longer than a month.

The one player who really constitutes a big shift from last season’s Nerazzurri side had a clear in the role in Inzaghi’s team, for which he rewarded his coach with a well-taken assist for Dumfries’s opener.

Meanwhile, Inzaghi used all five of his substitutes as he virtually always does.

Particularly in wide areas, the coach’s substitutions gave the team a lift at just the right time.

The Corriere dello Sport awarded Inzaghi with a grade of 7.5/10. Tuttosport, the Gazzetta dello Sport, and L’Interista all went with 7/10. And TuttoMercatoWeb graded him at 6.5/10.
