Inter Milan have reportedly set their sights on Ajax midfielder Davy Klaassen as they look to wrap up one more signing before the transfer session expires.

It has been an exhausting summer for Nerazzurri directors Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio. The club parted ways with several key players and replaced them with a host of newcomers.

Nevertheless, Marotta admitted earlier today that the club is still looking to poach one more signing. The Inter CEO said that it has to be a player with different characteristics.

But the Beneamata must accelerate their efforts as the Italian market slams its doors on Friday evening.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Klaasen has emerged as the latest idea for Inter Milan.

On the other hand, Sassuolo’s Maxime Lopez and Tottenham outcast Tanguy Ndombele are drawing further away.

Klaasen is an Ajax youth product who returned to Amsterdam in 2020 after embarking on foreign experiences at Everton and Werder Bremen.

The 30-year-old is a Dutch international star. He’s a versatile player who can play as a central midfielder or an attacking midfielder.

Inter Milan Are Now Looking To Sign Ajax Midfielder Davy Klaassen

The Netherlands star took the field today, helping Ajax secure their spot in the Europa League group stage.

But as the source explains, Inter aren’t willing to spend additional cash on transfer fees. Therefore, any new reinforcement would only arrive either on a free transfer or on loan.

So we shall see if the Nerazzurri would be able to strike a temporary deal with Ajax for Klaassen. Marotta and company will contact their counterparts in Amsterdam to understand if a deal is plausible.

In the meantime, Inter will maintain the services of Lucien Agoume. The 21-year-old midfielder will remain at the club to provide additional depth for Simone Inzaghi’s squad in case the management fails to land a new player.
