The agent of defender Benjamin Pavard has denied that the player went on “strike” at Bayern Munich to force a move to Inter Milan.

Speaking to German broadcaswter Sky Sports Deutschland, via FCInterNews, the Frenchman’s representative Pini Zahavi also explained why he decided on a move to the Nerazzurri this summer.

In the end, Pavard made the move to Inter.

With a few days to spare in the transfer window, the 27-year-old signed his Nerazzurri contract.

This came after Bayern gave the green-light on the deal.

That was in spite of reports that the German champions were not altogether keen to allow Pavard to leave. Particularly given how the Bavarians’ transfer window – without a replacement for Pavard arriving – it is not exactly hard to see why.

In the end, Bayern stayed true to their word after agreeing a deal with Inter.

And, just as important, the Germans gave Pavard the move he wanted.

The Frenchman had always made clear that he wanted to leave and join Inter.

Zahavi: Benjamin Pavard Didn’t Go On “Strike” To Join Inter Milan

There were even some rumours that Pavard had deliberately boycotting Bayern training in order to put pressure on the club to allow the move to Inter.

Officially, he was out of training with a stomach problem and back pain. However, some reports suggested that Pavard’s absence had a lot more to do with the transfer market.

However, the player’s agent Zahavi has given the view that there was no “strike.” He believes that the injury story was in fact the truth.

The agent explained that “Benji is very happy.”

“It was very important for him to try something new after seven years in Germany.”

Zahavi also said that “Benji didn’t go on strike from training. He actually had back problems.”

The agent also noted that “When Stanisic was loaned out, there were already contacts ongoing with Inter.”

“Hasan Salihamidzic knew since May that the player wanted to leave Bavaria” he continued.

“We therefore assume that others in the club knew that as well, not just Brazzo.”

“Thomas Tuchel was also aware of the situation,” Zahavi made clear. “With whom we have an excellent relationship.”

As for the reason why Pavard wanted to leave, Zahavi said that “Bayern have three central defenders in their current squad.”

He named “de Ligt, Kim and Upamecano.”

“Benji’s position would have been right-back, a role he he didn’t want to play anymore. So much so that he made it clear.”

“Leaving Germany was a decision both in terms of his career and also his life,” the agent explained.
