Legendary former Nerazzurri President Massimo Moratti feels that Inter Milan have improved their midfield over the summer transfer window.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Radio Bruno Firenze, via FCInterNews, the former Inter President gave his thought on the kind of summer that his old team had, as well as on the controversy surrounding striker Romelu Lukaku.

Inter had a busy summer transfer window.

The Nerazzurri changed up their squad in every single area of the pitch.

The last order of business just before the transfer deadline passed was to make one final midfield signing.

The Nerazzurri had already made one high-profile to bolster the centre of the pitch – Davide Frattesi from Sassuolo.

Moreover, Stefano Sensi re-joined Inter’s squad after loan spells with the likes of Sampdoria and Monza.

But Inter evidently decided that this wasn’t enough. They also signed 30-year-old Dutch international Davy Klaassen on a free transfer from Ajax.

Meanwhile, going in the other direction were Marcelo Brozovic and Roberto Gagliardini.

In the view of former Inter President Moratti, this has left the Nerazzurri’s midfield stronger than it had been last season.

Moratti Feels Inter Milan Have Strengthened In Midfield This Summer

“I think that we can say that Inter have strengthened,” said former Nerazzurri President Moratti.

“Particularly in the centre of the pitch, where they’ve signed several players.”

“And having watched them on the pitch, they’re playing good football,” the former President said of Inter’s first couple of matches this season.

Regarding the controversy of striker Lukaku, Moratti argued that “It strikes me as very foolish, the way he tried to deal with both Inter and Juventus.”

“At least looking at the situation from the outside.”

“But then again, he did end up joining a top club in Roma,” Moratti noted of the Belgian.
