Inter Milan are back in training with a greatly reduced squad of just seven players who aren’t currently away with their national teams.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
A large contingent from Inter’s squad are currently elsewhere.
The majority of the Nerazzurri’s players are full internationals. Therefore, most have received call-ups to their national teams during the international break.
Top stars like captain Lautaro Martinez, French duo Marcus Thuram and Benjamin Pavard, and most of Inter’s Italian contingent are currently preparing for qualifying fixtures with their respective national sides.
However, not every Inter player is currently away on international duty.
And those that aren’t are currently back at Inter’s training centre. Coach Simone Inzaghi continues work to keep the momentum going after a strong start to the season.
Seven Inter Milan Players Back In Training During International Break
Inzaghi gave the remaining squad a break after Sunday’s Serie A win over Fiorentina.
The Nerazzurri players got a couple of days in which to relax and take time off.
But today, the coach has expected those players not with their international teams back at his disposal.
Both backup goalkeepers are available to Inzaghi. Neither Emil Audero nor Raffaele Di Gennaro have a place in Luciano Spalletti’s first Italy squad.
Germany Under-21 defender Yann Bisseck is also in training. So is Francesco Acerbi, who also misses out on the Azzurri squad, having only just come back from a calf problem.
Meanwhile, midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is also in Inter training.
The 34-year-old former Roma and Arsenal man has retired from the Armenian national team. This means that Inzaghi will have one player who has started Inter’s first three matches of the season available this week.
And Inzaghi can also continue working the integrate a couple of his backup midfielders into the team.
Both Davy Klaassen and Stefano Sensi are also back in training with a pared-down Inter squad.
