Roma Sporting Director Tiago Pinto has no issues with midfielder Davide Frattesi having chosen Inter Milan over the Giallorossi.

Speaking in a press conference, as reported by FCInterNews, Pinto gave his thoughts on the 23-year-old’s decision to join the Nerazzurri.

Inter were the team who won the race for Frattesi’s signature this summer.

That doesn’t mean that the Nerazzurri were the only club who wanted to bring the Italian international in, however. Far from it.

Frattesi’s form during his two seasons at Sassuolo attracted plenty of suitors.

Moreover, the 23-year-old has started to become a regular for the Italian national team. Therefore, it is little surprise that Serie A’s elite started to eye him up.

Juventus and AC Milan reportedly both came forward with interest in Frattesi this summer.

And one of the teams most strongly linked have in fact been Roma.

Part of the reason for this is the fact that Frattesi actually acme through the Giallorossi’s youth system. In fact Roma retained a percentage of resale on the midfielder, which they collected from his move from Sassuolo to Inter.

Moreover, Roma coach Jose Mourinho was reportedly keen on signing Frattesi.

Roma Sporting Director: No Hard Feelings From Davide Frattesi Choosing Inter

Last summer, Roma had already made a push to sign Frattesi.

But in the end, the club from the Italian capital never worked out an agreement with Sassuolo for his signature.

Then, this summer, the Giallorossi had other interest in Frattesi to contend with.

And in the end, Inter were the team to get a deal to sign the 23-year-old over the line.

“I’ve always said that he’s one of the players I’ve most wanted to sign,” Pinto admitted about Frattesi.

“But at the end of the day, everyone is free to make their own decisions.”

“I have no regrets,” he noted.

“And in the end, we also brought in some money as a result of that deal,” Pinto noted.
