Inter Milan midfielder Kristjan Asllani didn’t make the move to Sassuolo in a loan swap for Maxime Lopez because he wasn’t convinced by the Neroverdi.

This according to Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

In the final few days of the summer transfer window, one of the main transfer rumours around Inter concerned a possible midfield swap.

On the one hand, the Nerazzurri were still looking to strengthen in midfield. And Sassuolo’s Lopez was a player who had come onto their radar.

Signing the Frenchman wouldn’t be easy for Inter, however.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri considered the possibility of offering Asllani on loan as a solution.

The Albanian international is a player who’s found playing hard to come by since joining Inter last summer. Meanwhile, Sassuolo are a club with a strong reputation for giving young players a chance to get on the pitch and improve.

Therefore, a loan swap could’ve been a potentially good move for all parties.

Lopez would get the move that he reportedly wanted. Inter would bring in a player they were after. And Asllani would slot into Sassuolo’s young team, getting a chance to play more than he would staying at Inter.

Inter Midfielder Kristjan Asllani Rejected Loan Move To Sassuolo

According to the Corriere, however, the player himself ultimately turned the idea of a move to Sassuolo down.

It is true that Asllani is hoping for more playing time this season.

But the 21-year-old Albanian international also wants to fight for his place at Inter.

From Asllani’s perspective, he would only want to move to a different club this season if it was the right club.

And from the Albanian’s perspective, the Neroverdi was not a destination he believed was right for him.

Therefore, Asllani stayed at Inter this summer. Meanwhile, Lopez has made the switch to Fiorentina on loan instead.
