Inter Milan could send midfielder Kristjan Asllani on loan to Sassuolo as part of a swap deal for Maxime Lopez.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the Nerazzurri have established contact regarding the possibility of an exchange deal involving the two midfielders before the summer transfer window ends.

Inter are still working out their strategy for midfield this season.

One thing that looks clear is that Stefano Sensi is staying at the club.

But another signing could still arrive.

One possibility would be for Inter to simply have seven senior midfielders in the squad for the season. This would not necessarily be unwelcome considering the need for a lot of depth with the team preparing to fight on all fronts.

But on the other hand, the Gazzetta suggest, Inter could also use a swap deal involving young midfielder Asllani.

Inter Milan Weighing Up Asllani-Lopez Loan Swap With Sassuolo

According to the Gazzetta, Inter are in talks with Sassuolo regarding a possible move for Lopez.

The Frenchman has made it perfectly clear that he does not want to stay in Emilia-Romagna this season.

Therefore, the Neroverdi have a motivation to try and find a new club for Lopez.

So far this summer, Sassuolo have had a price tag of around €20 million on Lopez. However, no clubs have come forward to seal a deal for the 25-year-old.

Therefore, Inter could try and sign the player on loan.

However, the difficulty here would be in the fact that Inter do not want to spend on a loan fee.

The Nerazzurri’s financial constraints would make it difficult to work out a paid loan deal with Sassuolo.

Therefore, the Gazzetta reports, they have suggested the possibility of a loan swap involving Asllani.

The 21-year-old Albanian international has not played a minute so far this season. Last campaign, as well, the former Empoli midfielder was on the fringes somewhat.

As such, the Gazzetta anticipate, Asllani could make the move to Sassuolo as a makeweight in a deal for Lopez.

The player himself has made clear that he intends to stay at Inter. However, the lack of playing time so far this season could convince him to accept a move on loan to the Mapei Stadium.
