Former AC Milan coach Fabio Capello feels that Inter Milan are still riding the same wave from the end of last season.

The former coach gave his thoughts to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews.

Inter have enjoyed a very strong start to this season.

The Nerazzurri have played three and won three in Serie A. They have scored eight goals and conceded none during that period.

In some respects, this start sees Inter pick up where they left off last season.

The Nerazzurri signed off for last season in heartbreaking fashion – with a narrow 1-0 loss to Manchester City in the Champions League final.

But in truth, reaching that far was already a big achievement for Inter. Simone Inzaghi’s team built momentum all the way up to their appearance in that final.

In the league, Inter showed Serie A title winning form in the final weeks of the campaign.

This was nowhere near enough to make up for a badly erratic season in the league up to that point. The Nerazzurri were miles off champions Napoli, as all the other big sides were.

But now Inter will hope that they can play at that level on a consistent basis this campaign.

Capello: Inter Milan Showing The Same Spirit As Last Season

Asked for his Serie A title prediction, Capello said “I’ll say Inter.”

“Despite making big changes, they’ve started with the same spirit they ended last season with,” he observed.

“That’s thanks to Inzaghi, and to the leaders who have remained in the team, starting with Lautaro.”

“They’ve shown desire, determination, a desire to help each other out,” Capello said of Inter’s start to the season.

“And then I see more quality in the depth options,” he added. “Frattesi, Cuadrado, Carlos Augusto.”

“And in midfield, they have the best regista in the league. Calhanoglu is even better than Brozovic was.”
