Inter Milan midfielder Stefano Sensi is back in full training following a minor injury setback which kept him sidelined against Fiorentina in the Serie A.
The Nerazzurri confirmed the presence of the 28-year-old in today’s training session in a post on their official Instagram account. This according to a report by Italian media outlet FCInterNews.
Stefano Sensi missed out on Inter Milan’s Serie A win over Fiorentina last Sunday. The midfielder’s injury was not a serious one.
But it was enough that he was not able to play any part either from the start or from the bench against La Viola.
That was Inter’s last match before the international break. Injuries have unfortunately been a regular theme for Sensi during his time at Inter. This is the primary reason why the Italian has not featured more, in spite of his undeniable ability.
Inter Milan Midfielder Stefano Sensi Back From Injury Setback
Sensi has stayed at Inter this summer despite links away from the club.
The former Sassuolo midfielder had spent last season loan with Monza. In the season before then, he had spent the second half of the campaign on loan with Sampdoria.
And this summer, it had seemed as though Inter would be looking to sell Sensi on a permanent basis.
The Italy international’s contract with the Nerazzurri runs out at the end of next June. Therefore, there would be little point in sending Sensi out on loan again.
And as far as keeping Sensi in the first team squad, Inter would not exactly be keen to immediately lose the player on a free transfer next summer rather than cashing in while they still had the chance.
But in the end no concrete offers for Sensi materialized for much of the summer.
Then, in August the failure of Inter’s pursuit of Lazar Samardzic left the club changing their strategy in midfield.
This meant that the Nerazzurru decided to keep Sensi around after all. The 28-year-old is essentially playing a backup role this season, with a packed fixture list on the horizon.
Inter also signed Davy Klaassen from Ajax, on a deadline day free transfer.
Meanwhile, Sensi is not in Inter’s squad list for the Champions League group stage.
